“Okay, so you think there are squirrels in the yard?”
“Not think, Lucy. I know there are squirrels in the yard.”
“What makes you think so?”
“I’ve seen them.”
“Seen them. When? Where?”
“Near that confounded bird handout thingy.”
“Yeah, that makes sense, I guess. They are after the seeds.”
“There shouldn’t be any seeds, to begin with, for heaven’s sake.”
“We discussed this. You need to share with our natural friends.”
“Okay, I’ll give it to you on the birds, but squirrels are an entirely different matter.”
“I think you ought to worry more about this dry spot in the lawn.”
“That’s above my pay grade.”
“I beliece you ought to give the squirrels a pass.”
“A pass? Are you a dog or what? Where’s the Lucy I once knew?”
“I’m just saying that you can spend your whole day chasing them to no avail.”
“Sounds like a good day to me.”
“Only a bulldog would think that way.”
‘Are you a dog or what?’!!! Ha ha ha! Sorry about that patch on the lawn, John. I’m having lawn woes myself at the moment. Thanks for the bit of Thursday fun π

This will be short lived, Harmony. This lawn is in it’s final throes. Thanks for your encouraging words. π

Itβs the cattle next door that make our boy crazy. No matter how many times he sees them, he must throw a fit. π Happy Thursday, John.

I’m glad we don’t have cattle (except for my one neighbor) next door. π

The patches on my lawn are mostly caused by the dogs peeing. Apparently, the high amount of nitrogen and related salts are to blame. Eos’ habit of scratching up afterwards doesn’t help. We’ve just put squirrel-proof feeders out on our bird station – not to deter squirrels (none of them around here as far as I know) but to stop pigeons, magpies and starlings nicking all the food before the sparrows and tits can get near it.

We have a squirell and dove problem. Twiggy is having a ball chasing them out of the yard. We also have to be careful about urine spots. We generally follow them with a watering can to dilute the effects. This lawn’s days are numbered. π€¨

Lucy’s getting soft. Or Twiggy’s getting tough. I can’t tell. Either way, I’m sending extra belly rubs. Sounds like they need them with all those squirrels around.
Thanks for the smiles.

Chasing squirrels – such a good day for SOME dogs. We have loads of squirrels snatching the seed on the ground under our bird feeder. Lately they have to share with the wild turkeys as well. But no bulldogs in sight…

I loved that pic of the wild turkey. If I were a squirrel I wouldn’t mess with him.

“Squirrels only for bulldogs!” Another important summit at the Twiggy Resort! I wonder why Twiggy dislikes them so much, dear John! Is she jealous? Might it be some doggy Freudish problems? Might she dream to be one of them? πππ

The bird handout thingyβsounds like a technical term. The squirrels fascinate my dog, Lulu. When we haven’t seen her in a bit, we’ll often find her in the yard, fixated on one of the little buggers in a nearby tree.
