Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy and Twiggy Outside

“Where you going, Little One?”

“I’m going to the wilderness.”

“The wilderness. Where’s that?”

“No dog’s land around the corner.”

“Hey, wait for me. That could be dangerous.”

“Hurry up then. An adventure awaits.”

“Okay, keep talking to me, so I know you’re safe.”

“Everything is fine. So far, so good.”

“You sure everything’s fine? You’re pretty silent.”

“Just sniffin’ the clues. Can’t talk and sniff at the same time.”

So, what did you find out here?”

“A big bunch of nothing. That’s what.”

“Looks pretty bare, I’d say. I’m leaving.”

“One more sniff over there, then I’m with you.”

“That was a pretty long sniff.”

“After the puma takes in the wild scent of the water buffalo, the stalking is on.”

“Cut that out. You look like you’re possessed.”

“The puma keeps the water buffalo in its sight, careful not to spook it.”

“Well, the water buffalo has other plans than to be jumped on by a demonic puma.”

“The puma checks the trail. Yes, the scent is fresh.”

“I’m going inside now. You can stop.”

“Step by step, the puma closes the gap. The water buffalo looks panicked.”

“Hey, mom. Open the door. It is definitely time to come in.”

“The puma has the water buffalo cornered. The time has come to spring.”

“Come on, mom. This is getting serious.”

“Oh, for heaven’s sake, you big chicken. I’m just playing.”

“Okay then. I guess that no dog’s land got me spooked.”

“The puma saves the water buffalo treat for another day.”

“Quit that.”

  1. Lucy’s face when Twiggy says she’s going out into the wilderness! Priceless!
And…. every. single. time they play puma and water buffalo, VeggieTales comes to mind… in particular, this song!

    1. Oh, my gosh! I always think about that, too! (And I admit to singing it a lot more often than I see it mentioned here. Though “Oh Where Is My Hairbrush?” is my go-to song. You can change “hairbrush” to anything that’s missing. It’s very versatile.) 😊

      1. How comforting to know I’m not alone! And I can’t say how often I have sung “Hairbrush” myself!! I have a video of my youngest dancing to “Larry Boy”!

      2. I once watched the Christmas special without my kids. lol (I love the Silly Songs with Larry song from that one. Especially when the guy from the IRS shows up.)

So nice to meet another VeggieTales fan!

  2. While countries threaten war and our streets become less civil, friends of Lucy and Twiggy visit every Thursday for a glimpse of another possibility. Thank you for the smiles and chuckles, John. Masterful. 🤗

  3. Twiggy and Lucy’s adventures are always so fun for your readers. By the way, are you happy with your turf? Does the rain seep through that material?

    1. The material has holes on the backing that allows water to permiate to the soil. We are very happy with it. Underneith is crushed granite which acts as a weed barrier. Still some tough weeds grow through. Each season the weeds get less and less.

  4. I love the idea of the Wilderness in your backyard, that never fails to impress me. They have such a lovely place to play and roam. They’re lucky dogs, alright. I’m gonna be watchin’ for that puma 🙂

  5. “Puma-and-buffalo-go-round!” Autumn delights at the Twiggy Resort. 😁😁😁 That’s wonderful to see how the life might be carefree, dear John! If dogs knew all we do, if they watched news…they would have been driven crazy! 🍤🍤🍤🍻

  6. Haha! I love these visits with the girls. My yard should look like that kind of “wilderness.” I just got the “pack” next door stirred up — pulling the wild sage from the rose bed that is against that courtyard wall. Nobody’s sleeping late now. LOL. Happy weekend hugs.

      1. Oh, they’re fine, and bark when strangers come around. Admittedly they worry me when I have to work beside the wall and they start jumping. They’re big dogs and the wall is only 4 ft high. The biggest one easily jumps high enough that his head and shoulders are above the wall.

Saving the water buffalo treat for another day.
Still, all in all it was a great stalking, Twiggy!
Lucy, you have horns almost 5 ft. long. Okay they are backwards, but you could devise some moves that might scare off the puma.

Anyway, I’m off to do housework. Don’t let dad know I was here. I’ll be back later and surprise him!
