“What are you sniffing there?”
“I’m not sure. Is there such a thing as a puma squirrel cross?”
“I don’t think so. Look at that Hibiscus. Looks wilted.”
“You’d be wilted too if you had to stay out in the cold temperatures overnight.”
“Yeah, I suppose so. Unfortunately, we have had a couple of nights near freezing.”
“Well, I guess there is nothing to track down here.”
“So what about this puma squirrel cross?”
“It is the funniest thing. I can’t separate the two scents. It’s like they are one.”
“Well, that is very odd. Normally you have no trouble.”
“I know. You don’t think dogs can get COVID do you?”
“I hear it has happened. But you don’t have to worry. Mom and Dad are protected, and they haven’t had it.”
“You have to wonder about that pesky squirrel, though. You don’t know where his paws have been.”
“I don’t think you have to worry. You would have to catch him to get anything.”
“I suppose you are right. So far, he has been able to get away.”
“Of course, there is another consideration for the mixed scents.”
“What’s that?”
“The squirrel is wearing a puma suit.”
“That can’t happen. Can it?”
“Naw. Just messin’ with you. Let’s play tag.”
He he he… poor Twiggy with here senses all in a mess!
Cold temps, have you? We got our first snow yesterday and it’s bleeping cold now.

My pleasure. I went into Montreal (which is no little thing anymore) and drove back in the pretty snow that was falling. I don’t mind when it’s a gentle snow. It was rather romantic to walk in it, too! (even if I was alone)

I’m chuckling at what I’m imagining a puma/squirrel hybrid to look like, as well as what a squirrel would look like in a puma suit. Lucy’s dry wit and Twiggy’s innocence never cease to make me smile.
Sending the girls belly rubs. Thanks for a fun morning, John.

I don’t know about the girls’ squirrels, but the ones up our way act like they’ve been binging on energy drinks. They don’t even know which way they are going. In any case, the girls are way too smart to fall victim to squirrels…or pumas…or squirrels in puma suits.

Cross a puma with a squirrel ? I don’t know what you would call it. And it would need to learn to stealth and stalk very quickly before it got distracted…

We are getting edges of that insane snow event in NY around Buffalo. Over 6′ in some areas, so far!
-8C here right now, squalls coming around 2:30 – uch 12 ” of snow.
Looks like I’ll be able to get out for a decent walk Wed. or Thursday. The snow should be melted. +4C… with a parka & accoutrements it could be fab! Otherwise a team of oxen w/sled could work!
